Celebrating the First Graduates of Our Future Climate Leaders Program

25 August 2026

This summer, Sabanci Climate Technologies had the privilege of launching our Future Climate Leaders (FCL) Summer Internship. Over the course of this 12-week program, our very first group of interns brought fresh perspectives to our teams, diving into diverse fields such as operations, artificial intelligence, and finance, all while experiencing the day-to-day realities of the renewable energy sector.

To celebrate this milestone, our team recently gathered with our interns for a graduation dinner, marking the successful conclusion of their journey and honoring their hard work both in the office and out in the field.

As we bring this summer to a close, our interns shared their takeaways from their time with us:

  • Bridging the Gap Between Theory and the Field

For Johnathan Sicard, the highlight was taking theoretical research and applying it directly to active power plants. He noted, "The FCL program has been an incredible opportunity to apply many of the technologies and methods I have learned through my education and research to Sabanci Renewables’ operational power plants. This experience has been valuable in two ways: the best system modelers need to understand how physical systems operate, while teams working directly with those systems can benefit from a deeper understanding of how the models are developed. It is incredibly impressive to see the amount of work Sabanci Renewables puts into maximizing generation across each site, inverter, and solar module."

  • The Intersection of AI and Enterprise Growth Rafael

Inacio Thome spent his summer exploring the synergies between technological innovation and renewable energy. Reflecting on the collaborative environment, he shared, "This program opened my eyes to all that is possible to accomplish if you have the right team supporting you. Not only did I immerse myself in the world of coding and AI, but I also had the opportunity to do so within the context of renewable energy at Sabanci Renewables. I realized that growing an enterprise and working with AI go hand-in-hand, allowing us to achieve what was once just out of reach."

  • Fueling a Passion for Sustainability

Krisha Arun had the chance to look under the hood of our financial operations, connecting her daily tasks directly to her core interests. She explained, "I got to dive into the finances behind so many different aspects of how the company operates and see firsthand what goes into running an organization of this scale. What made it especially meaningful is that sustainability and renewable energy are a genuine passion of mine, so being able to visit sites and see exactly where our work was going was incredibly rewarding. This experience has really solidified my desire to pursue a career in renewable energy."

We are incredibly grateful for the energy, dedication, and insights our FCL interns brought to Sabanci Climate Technologies. We wish them the absolute best in their continuing studies and future careers!
